SOCIAL SERVICES PROGRAM

Family and Social Services

The Social Services Department consists of Social and Family Services as well as Education and Community Outreach Programs.  The Delaware Nation Social Services Programs assist enrolled Delaware members and their enrolled Delaware children with temporary assistance in:

• Education programs
• Child care programs
• Financial services programs and
• Provide necessary support and referrals to families in crisis.
 


CHILD CARE PROGRAM (CCDF)

CHILD CARE: Provides day care financial assistance to enrolled Delaware children under the age of 13 years old. This program provides financial support to defray child care expense.

REQUIREMENTS: 
▪ Parent(s) must be working, attending college or vocational training.
▪ Complete a Child Care application with supportive documentation.
▪ Must provide proof of employment or class schedule of school attending.
▪ The parent(s) may select the child care provider. The child care provider must be licensed by the state.

SERVICE AREAS: 
Services are restricted to (Caddo, Comanche, Kiowa, Cotton, Oklahoma, Canadian and Tillman) counties in Oklahoma.

LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP)

SERVICE AREAS: This program is income based. The head of household must be enrolled Delaware.  Funds are available on a first come first serve basis.  Applications can be requested thru this office or downloaded on our website.
 
▪ Household cannot have received LIHEAP thru DHS or any other funding source that receives LIHEAP.
▪ Complete a LIHEAP application with supportive documentation.
▪ Income verification for household.
▪ Copy of CDIB  and social security cards for everyone in the household
▪ Copy of the current utility bill. NO CUT OFF NOTICES!

SELF GOVERNANCE SOCIAL SERVICES PROGRAM
GENERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:

 

SERVICE AREAS:
 The program assists enrolled Delaware members with general assistance, perform Adult Protection Service Investigations, monitor and supervise tribal members that require assistance in handling their own financial affairs.  Applications are available in the Social Services Department.
 
Services are restricted to (Caddo, Comanche, Kiowa, Cotton, and Tillman) counties in Oklahoma.

SERVICE AREAS: The program primarily serves enrolled or eligible to be enrolled members that reside within the state of Oklahoma.  This program only monitors out of state cases.  If you are interested in becoming a foster parent please contact the Delaware Nation Indian Child Welfare Office.
 
▪ Assists to prevent the breakup of Delaware enrolled children and families at risk.
▪ Assists tribal families to find resources to retain children in the home.
▪ Monitor state courts in child custody proceedings involving Delaware enrolled children.
▪ Assist parents to carry out court ordered obligations and treatment plans.
▪ Provides counseling for foster children in Delaware tribal custody.
▪ Provides counseling services to abusive and neglectful parents

Oklahoma

COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM (CSBG)
This small grant provides one elder activity and one youth activity once a year.  The CSBG provides the elders with a choice of:
 
1. Turkeys and blankets on Thanksgiving or
2. Hams on Christmas or
3. Fans during the summer.
A survey is filled out by the Delaware elders once a year to give them a choice on the items they would like to receive for that year.  The CSBG gives these items on a first come first serve basis.
The youth activity is held usually the 1st or 2nd week in August during the American Indian Exposition in Anadarko, Oklahoma.  The American Indian Exposition is a six day event that is held (Monday-Saturday).   The Delaware Nation CSBG program purchases fair bracelets for enrolled Delaware children ages 3-12 years old that attend the American Indian Exposition carnival.  The bracelets are given on a first come first serve basis.
EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
This program only assists tribal members that have been affected by natural disasters, resulting in home and property damages.
• Wildfires
• Tornados
• Floods
• Earthquakes
• Ice Storms
Tribal members must first seek assistance through Red Cross, FEMA, Salvation Army, etc.  If they are unable to assist with the damages then tribal members can request an application through the Social Services Department.

From now on, the Enrollment office will only be accepting address changes on the change of address form. Change of addresses will no longer be accepted over the phone.
