HIGHER EDUCATION PROGRAM

This program is for Delaware enrolled members that are interested in obtaining an undergraduate (Associates or Bachelors) degree from an accredited institution. Please request an application from the education department.

DEADLINES:
For the academic school year (fall-spring) -- June 1st
Spring Semester -- November 1st

REQUIREMENTS:

• Complete a Higher Education application along with supportive documentation.
• Copy of Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB card)
• Letter of intent. This letter must be written by the applicant.
• Letter of admission from the college you are attending.
• College/High School transcript.
• A completed financial need analysis. This form is in the application packet and it is to be completed by the financial aid office of the college you will be attending. Then it must be mailed back to the Delaware Nation education office.

COLLEGE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The program’s main focus will be to offer financial support to a student needing transportation costs, books expenses, lab expense, food, or what is deemed necessary for the student to reach their academic goals.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Letter/essay requesting the amount needed to cover college related expenses. Also it must state that receipts will be submitted, if not then the student will know that they are not eligible for the next semester.
• Supportive documentation (proof of membership and college transcript)
• Student is required to have at least a 2.0 GPA per semester.

LENAPE WISE PROGRAM

This program is for individuals that have completely exhausted the 10-semester/150 college credit hours of the Higher Education Program. Priority will be given to students that are displaced homemakers or if student had to drop out of college to raise a family.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Student is required to have at least a 2.0 GPA per semester.
• Submit an essay stating reason(s) to be selected.
• Supportive documentation (proof of membership and college transcript)
• A letter of recommendation from a professor or academic advisor.

LENAPE WIK-A-WAM PROGRAM

This is a housing program for enrolled Delaware college students. The college cannot have campus housing facilities to qualify for this program. This program is designed to assist at least 3 college students per year. It is based on a first come first serve basis.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Letter from college stating there is no campus housing.
• Submit an essay stating reason(s) to be selected.
• Copy of rental agreement stating the amount of rent every month.
• A letter of recommendation from a professor or academic advisor.
• Copy of Certificate of Indian Blood (CDIB).

ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM 

For members that need short-term training (less than 6months) to obtain/enhance job skills or to acquire a General Education Diploma (G.E.D).

DEADLINES:  None

REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Complete an application along with supportive documentation.
▪ A form attached to the application must be complete by school official.
▪ Letter of admission.

SERVICE AREA: 
 

Services are restricted to (Caddo, Comanche, Kiowa, Cotton, and Tillman) counties in Oklahoma.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM:
 
 
For members that need long-term training (9 months +) to obtain/enhance job skills. 

DEADLINES:  None

REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Complete an application along with supportive documentation.
▪ A form attached to the application must be complete by school official.
▪ Letter of admission.

SERVICE AREA:
Services are restricted to (Caddo, Comanche, Kiowa, Cotton, and Tillman) counties in Oklahoma.
 
 
MOTOR FUELS VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM:
 
This program is for tribal members attending an accredited Vocational Facility in the state of Oklahoma.

DEADLINES:  None

REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Complete an application along with supportive documentation.
▪ A form attached to the application must be complete by school official.
▪ Letter of admission.

SERVICE AREAS:
Services restricted to the state of Oklahoma. Cannot reside in (Caddo, Comanche, Kiowa, Cotton, and Tillman) counties in Oklahoma.

DIRECT EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE:
 
 
Provides a financial stipend to Delaware members that have started new employment. This program provides members the assistance and tools necessary for the new job.

DEADLINES:  None

REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Complete an application along with supportive documentation.
▪ Must have been unemployed 6 weeks prior to new job.
▪ Letter from new employer on their letterhead.
▪ Cannot have received first full paycheck.
▪ The letter must state (date of hire, job title, hourly wages and the date when the applicant will receive first full paycheck.).

SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT INCENTIVE:
 
The Secondary School Student Incentive program is available to enrolled Delaware children in the 5th-12th grades. This program is based on grades and GPA.

SUBMISSION DATES:  December 1st for fall semester and May 1st for spring semester.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
A brief essay stating:
· The name & address of the student
· Age of student
· What the money will be used for such as; clothing, games, class ring, class pictures etc.
· State that receipts will be submitted.
If receipts are not submitted the student will not be eligible for the following semester.

PRE COLLEGE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: 
 
The Pre College Assistance Program is available to enrolled Delaware children attending high school. This program is based on grades and GPA and other eligibility criteria.

SUBMISSION DATES:  30 days prior to start date of classes.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be enrolled at a high school.
· Must complete a Pre College Assistance Application with all supportive documentation
